JANUARY BLUES!

January is the longest month in the year. In our Mississippi school district, school personnel is paid on the last working day of the month (right before Christman holidays) which means over six weeks before payday at the end of February. While we're not reduced to eating grub worms, I will be glad when the end of the month arrives.

In Mississippi, the old saying about weather is true. If you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes and you'll have something different. We're probably the only place where you can have your heat on in the morning and the air conditioning in the afternoon. But that's what makes us so special. We can adapt!

I've been knitting baby sweaters, hats and booties. There are several young teachers who are having babies and it gives me a good excuse to sit and knit rather than do laundry or heaven forbid!!! COOK! It never ceases to amaze me that new parents can know what gender the baby is. We just took what we got and were extremely pleased the whole thing was over.
